Welcome to A Joyful Sound, Inc.serving the Northwest Chicago Suburbs since 1985.  Owned and operated by Laura Olsen a registered member of The Piano Technicians Guild and Barrington resident.  A 1985 graduate of the Fred Tremper School of Piano Technology in Oak Park Illinois, Laura tuned strictly by ear for the first 17 years of her business and now uses the Reyburn Cybertuner to assist her in doing pitch raises, fine voicing and tuning. Totally aural tunings are available if you prefer.

Laura regularly attends the Piano Technicians Guild’s National Conventions, Chicago Chapter meetings and Regional Seminars to further her knowledge and augment her skills.  She has been honored to teach at many of these events and has served on national committees and the board of directors of both the Piano Technicians Guild and the Piano Technicians Guild Foundation.  Laura is well acquainted with all the major piano manufacturers and has received special training at Steinway & Sons in New York and Yamaha Corp. in California.
